Shine On

²⁶ Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

²⁷ So God created man in his own image,
    in the image of God he created him;
    male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:26-27 ESV®)

   When I was looking at the world through youthful innocent eyes, I was sure the moon generated light. My misconception was shared for centuries by the world. Then came along Galileo Galilei in the Renaissances. Through his observations, using a telescope, he documented that the moon reflected the light of the sun. In my case, it was a teacher that changed by belief about the moon generating light.

    I would like to think that I am totally independent and self-made. This belief of mine was changed by a book, the Holy Bible. I learned I was created in the image of God. Just like an image in a mirror, I am a reflection of my maker. I am told in Ephesians 2:10 I can’t even claim my good works as my own.

    I know I am a child of God, through faith given me by the Holy Spirit, When people see me they are seeing a reflection of my Father in Heaven. My actions are a reflection of God. When I am cruel or uncaring, people see this as a reflection of the God I profess. I lift my faith up in prayer to ask God for His help in being a good ambassador of His. I would be so happy to think that when people saw me they would be able to see the love from Jesus.

    Let us light up the world with the reflection of Jesus off us. The world is still in need of the light found in the blood of Jesus. Let His love shine off us.
