CURATE’S CORNER: NEW BIBLE CLASS
CURATE’S CORNER:
This week begins my class on “Learning the Catechism through Worship”. The catechism is about our Christian life through prayer, our confession of our faith, and worship in Christ Jesus. This class will be a basic understanding of why we worship the way we do founded upon the biblical teaching of worship. Why do our pastors do things that Redeemer may have not done in the past or have not done for awhile? Why is the National Youth Gatherings, almost all our Concordia Universities chapel services, Higher Things youth gatherings, all our seminaries, international Lutheran seminaries and many other gatherings within our church body are becoming more attached to our hymnal’s liturgy and forms of worship? Why are many youth that grew up being confirmed Lutherans are no longer Lutheran, and why many of the students at our seminaries, many youth and adults and new members never grew up Lutheran and sought out the Lutheran Church because of its worship and teaching? The same class will be taught twice on Thursdays from 10-11 am and 6:30-7:30 pm starting August 7th (this coming Thursday) with Zoom being offered at the 6:30 class. Required for this class is the Lutheran Service Book (our hymnal we use in our church) a physical Bible (not electronic), and a notebook/folder. This class will not be a deep academic class but yet will provide the participants with a lot of substantive material. Your attendance at all classes is recommended since one class will build on the previous class. A tentative schedule with topics that will be discussed is found in the back of the church.
