AUGUST 21, 2025 PORTALS OF PRAYER READINGS
Matthew 20:24-28
24 And when the ten heard it, they were
indignant at the two brothers. 25 But
Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the
rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise
authority over them. 26 It shall not be
so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant,[a] 27 and whoever would be first among you must be your
slave,[b] 28 even as the Son of Man came not to be served but
to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Psalm 27:2-4
2 When evildoers assail me
to
eat up my flesh,
my adversaries and foes,
it
is they who stumble and fall.
3 Though an army encamp against
me,
my
heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
yet[a] I will be
confident.
4 One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that
will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all
the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and
to inquire[b] in his
temple.
