IT'S ALL A GIFT

It’s All a Gift

Who made you superior to others? Didn't God give you everything you have? Well, then, how can you boast, as if what you have were not a gift? (1 Corinthians 4:7 GNT®)

There was time that my pride started growing out of control. In 2016, I was awarded the Senior Volunteer of the Year - Honorable Mention for the state of Ohio. Those near me needed to get out of the way or they may have gotten crushed by me ego. When my pride starts taking over, my perception of my worth is all consuming. Later I realized that was only 4th place. In my mind all successes in life are my doing and all negative things are failures on God’s part. Have you ever been there?

I forget that everything I have has been given me because I have a creator who loves me. As I am writing this verbiage I have been given the news that my stage 4 metastatic (in transit) cancer is on the move again. Currently, I am waiting to see a surgeon to schedule a biopsy so we can determine a treatment plan. I am dealing with treatment for two existing cancers so this will be just adding on to my continued courting of the world of medical.

The thing that keeps my attitude of joy and great hope is knowing the greatest gift of all. A Son was given to us on that first Christmas who was true God and true man. That baby became an adult, took on my sin burden, suffered for it on the cross and best of all, rose on the third day. Wow, what a future I have ahead for me no matter what the world throws at me. The only request I make is for prayers that my witness may stay joyful and consistent.

While celebrating with family and friends don’t miss the fact that Jesus is the true gift to us.  May we give up some of our comfort and abundance, allowing God to use us in His service.  He has a place for everyone, even you.

If you still have doubts, submit yourself to Him. PRAY, all else fails.

A child is born to us! A son is given to us! And he will be our ruler. He will be called, “Wonderfu] Counselor,” “Mighty God,” “Eternal Father,” “Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6 GNT®))
