Mark 2:23-28
Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath
23 One Sabbath he was going through the
grainfields, and as they made their way, his disciples began to pluck heads of
grain. 24 And the Pharisees were saying
to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” 25 And he said to them, “Have
you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those
who were with him: 26 how he entered the
house of God, in the time of[a] Abiathar
the high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for
any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?”
27 And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”

Let Us Go to the House of the Lord
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
122 I
was glad when they said to me,
“Let
us go to the house of the Lord!”
2 Our feet have been standing
within
your gates, O Jerusalem!
3 Jerusalem—built as a city
that
is bound firmly together,
4 to which the tribes go up,
the
tribes of the Lord,
as was decreed for[a] Israel,
to
give thanks to the name of the Lord.
5 There thrones for judgment were set,
the
thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for the peace of
Jerusalem!
“May
they be secure who love you!
7 Peace be within your walls
and
security within your towers!”
8 For my brothers and companions' sake
I
will say, “Peace be within you!”
9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I
will seek your good.
