1 John 2:15-29
Do Not Love the World
15 Do not love the world or the things in
the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world—the desires of
the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life[a]—is not
from the Father but is from the world. 17 And
the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of
God abides forever.
Warning Concerning Antichrists
18 Children, it is the last hour, and as
you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come.
Therefore we know that it is the last hour. 19 They
went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they
would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain
that they all are not of us. 20 But you
have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.[b] 21 I write to you, not because you do not know the
truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is
the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
23 No one who denies the Son has the Father.
Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 Let
what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the
beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise that he made to us[c]—eternal
life.
26 I write these things to you about those
who are trying to deceive you. 27 But
the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need
that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about
everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.
Children of God
28 And now, little children, abide in him,
so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame
at his coming. 29 If you know that he
is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has
been born of him.

Psalm 103
Bless the Lord, O My Soul
Of David.
103 Bless
the Lord, O my soul,
and
all that is within me,
bless
his holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and
forget not all his benefits,
3 who forgives all your iniquity,
who
heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit,
who
crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5 who satisfies you with good
so
that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The Lord works righteousness
and
justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his
acts to the people of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful
and gracious,
slow
to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 He will not always chide,
nor
will he keep his anger forever.
10 He does not deal with us according to our
sins,
nor
repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the
earth,
so
great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so
far does he remove our transgressions from us.
13 As a father shows compassion to his
children,
so
the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
14 For he knows our frame;[a]
he
remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like
grass;
he
flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 for the wind passes over it, and it is
gone,
and
its place knows it no more.
17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him,
and
his righteousness to children's children,
18 to those who keep his covenant
and
remember to do his commandments.
19 The Lord has
established his throne in the heavens,
and
his kingdom rules over all.
20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels,
you
mighty ones who do his word,
obeying
the voice of his word!
21 Bless the Lord, all his
hosts,
his
ministers, who do his will!
22 Bless the Lord, all his
works,
in
all places of his dominion.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
