CURATE’S CORNER:
Today, many churches are going through, what I call, retirement mode. It is where socializing as a whole church diminishes and all the socializing happens with immediate families and friends. When new families join the church, outside of attending Sunday worship and Bible class, the new families have limited opportunity to get to know the rest of their church family. This is why it is important to create a “third space”, which means a place where all church members, young and old and families can get together in order to get to know one another, share our struggles, stories, and simply to have a good time together. I created a “space” called “Game Day”, for young and old to gather and get to know each other. Game Day is Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM in Mission Hall. I will invite school families to attend "game day" if more of our members attend this event. I encourage members to create a “third space” event with our members at church or meet at a park, a museum, or a restaurant. It could result in just two or three people, but two or three that have an opportunity to interact with one another. – Pastor Dreyer
