CURATE’S CORNER:
I am so blessed to have a church like ours that works together as a church family in Christ. It appears we are on the right direction regarding changes, especially from the numerous comments that were made by our members. There is, of course, a learning curve when changes are made especially when we are talking about the life of the whole church. Some considerations that have been brought to my attention the past couple of weeks are (and some are repeats from my last Curate’s Corner):
1. If you don’t have any physical challenges, please consider parking a little further away and leave the parking spots near the church entrance open for those with limited mobility.
2. Since we have limited spots for those who are in wheelchairs, please consider the two shorter pews for people who are in wheelchairs and their family. If both spots are taken, please consider sitting in the very front pew. Though it might seem to be uncomfortable to sit in the very front pew, especially for Lutherans, it is not as close to the pulpit and lectern as it may appear. We will look for options in the future.
3. The length of the Divine Service seemed to be extended because of how we distribute the Lord’s Supper. Today we are going to do what I did in my last congregation, where it retains the reverence, gives people more time to get up to the altar if needed, and couples or families can receive the Lord’s Supper and even leave together. This will allow us to distribute communion with reverence but with more efficiency regarding time.
Please let me know if there is anything else that would benefit our church as a whole. Peace in Christ,
Pr. Dreyer
