CURATE’S CORNER

The Lutheran Service Book, namely your Lutheran Hymnal is a great resource for devotion and for worship. It was put together with Sunday worship in mind but also to be used at home. Utilizing the hymnal in the pews encourages a more engaging, interactive worship experience compared to screen-based projection, as it allows for better eye contact between the pastor and the congregation. Also allows the user to see what is up next in the liturgy. There are prayers you can use at home found on pages 282-289 and 294-299. If you really want to get fancy you have the morning and evening prayer services that can be done at home (pp. 219-259) but especially Compline is a simple service before going to bed (pp.253). During Lent and other times, the Litany is nice, found on pages 288-289. “The Treasury of Daily Prayer” has other resources not included in the hymnal. Blessed Lent in Christ,

Pastor Dreyer
