Matthew 9:9-13
Jesus Calls Matthew
9 As Jesus passed on from
there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said
to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.
10 And as Jesus[a] reclined
at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and
were reclining with Jesus and his disciples. 11 And
when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your
teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are
sick. 13 Go and learn what
this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to
call the righteous, but sinners.”

Psalm 119:65-72
Teth
65 You have
dealt well with your servant,
O Lord, according to your
word.
66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge,
for I
believe in your commandments.
67 Before I was afflicted I went astray,
but now
I keep your word.
68 You are good and do good;
teach me
your statutes.
69 The insolent smear me with lies,
but with
my whole heart I keep your precepts;
70 their heart is unfeeling like fat,
but
I delight in your law.
71 It is good for me that I was
afflicted,
that I
might learn your statutes.
72 The law of your mouth is better to me
than
thousands of gold and silver pieces.
