Romans 1:16-22
The Righteous Shall Live by
Faith
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the
power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and
also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is
revealed from faith for faith,[a] as it is written, “The righteous shall live by
faith.”[b]
God's Wrath on Unrighteousness
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven
against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their
unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to
them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For
his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine
nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,[c] in the things that have been made. So they are
without excuse. 21 For
although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him,
but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were
darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise,
they became fools,

Psalm 53
There Is None Who Does Good
To the choirmaster: according
to Mahalath. A Maskil[a] of
David.
53 The
fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, doing abominable
iniquity;
there is none who does good.
2 God looks down from heaven
on the children of man
to see if there are any who understand,[b]
who seek after God.
3 They have all fallen away;
together they have become corrupt;
there is none who does good,
not even one.
4 Have those who work evil no knowledge,
who eat up my people as they eat bread,
and do not call upon God?
5 There they are, in great terror,
where there is no terror!
For God scatters the bones of him who encamps against
you;
you put them to shame, for God has
rejected them.
6 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When God restores the fortunes of his
people,
let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
