Exodus 17:1-6
Water from the Rock
17 All
the congregation of the people of Israel moved on from the wilderness of Sin by
stages, according to the commandment of the Lord, and camped
at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink. 2 Therefore the people quarreled with Moses and
said, “Give us water to drink.” And Moses said to them, “Why do you quarrel
with me? Why do you test the Lord?” 3 But the people thirsted there for water, and the
people grumbled against Moses and said, “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt,
to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?” 4 So Moses cried to the Lord, “What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone
me.” 5 And the Lord said to Moses, “Pass on before the people, taking with you some of
the elders of Israel, and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the
Nile, and go. 6 Behold, I will stand
before you there on the rock at Horeb, and you shall strike the rock, and water
shall come out of it, and the people will drink.” And Moses did so, in the
sight of the elders of Israel.
Titus 3:4-7
4 But when the goodness and loving kindness
of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved
us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own
mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus
Christ our Savior, 7 so that being
justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal
life.
Psalm 114
Tremble
at the Presence of the Lord
114 When
Israel went out from Egypt,
the
house of Jacob from a people of strange language,
2 Judah became his
sanctuary,
Israel
his dominion.
3 The sea
looked and fled;
Jordan
turned back.
4 The mountains skipped
like rams,
the
hills like lambs.
5 What
ails you, O sea, that you flee?
O
Jordan, that you turn back?
6 O mountains, that you
skip like rams?
O
hills, like lambs?
7 Tremble,
O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at
the presence of the God of Jacob,
8 who turns the rock
into a pool of water,
the
flint into a spring of water.
