1 Corinthians 2:1-5
Proclaiming
Christ Crucified
2 And I,
when I came to you, brothers,[a] did not come proclaiming to you the
testimony[b] of God with lofty speech or wisdom. 2 For I decided to know
nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in
weakness and in fear and much trembling, 4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible
words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
5 so that your faith
might not rest in the wisdom of men[c] but in the power of God.

Psalm 119:17-24
Gimel
17 Deal bountifully with your
servant,
that
I may live and keep your word.
18 Open my eyes, that I
may behold
wondrous
things out of your law.
19 I am a sojourner on
the earth;
hide
not your commandments from me!
20 My soul is consumed
with longing
for
your rules[a] at all times.
21 You rebuke the
insolent, accursed ones,
who
wander from your commandments.
22 Take away from me
scorn and contempt,
for
I have kept your testimonies.
23 Even though princes
sit plotting against me,
your
servant will meditate on your statutes.
24 Your testimonies are
my delight;
they
are my counselors.
